On Monday Sept. 28, HRH Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway will be interviewed on “Amanpour”, which had its premier on CNN Sept. 21. The program featuring the royal couple will air at 3 p.m. (ET) on Oct. 2, informs Kongehuset.no.
TV2 covered their visit to the CNN studio.
CNN’s Chief International Correspondent Christiane Amanpour’s new live global interview program features a range of political leaders, cultural icons and global influencers.
On Monday’s program Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit will be talking about their involvement with UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) and UNAIDS (The Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS).
The Crown Prince has been a dedicated and knowledgeable UNDP Goodwill Ambassador with ambitions to help close the gap between the rich and the poor worldwide.
“I accepted the invitation to become a Goodwill Ambassador for UNDP, because I strongly believe that all people are equal and should have equal rights to realize their potential as human beings,” said the heir to the Norwegian throne during a visit to Burundi with UNDP in October 2007.
He has used his ambassador status to express that even though development is a long-term process, the international community has to live up to the promise of achieving the MDGs (Millennium Development Goals) by 2015.
The Crown Princess is a UNAIDS Special Representative.
